Do you need digestive stimulation with no risk of heating the body? Do you have colic pain but can't handle fennel seeds? Do you need an estrogenic herb delivered locally?
Vaidya Mishra's Fennel Transdermal Cream is a great way to get the benefits of fennel without any risk of heating the body.
Around the world, not just in the Ayurvedic tradition, fennel is used to remove colic, a sharp pain in the gut due to trapped gas. However, some people cannot chew on fennel seeds because of diverticulitis, or other conditions, and some people have trouble tolerating even the mild heat of fennel.
In these cases, or for general use, you can rub this Fennel Transdermal Cream on the abdomen in a large clockwise circle. You will probably find that within a few minutes the gas will be released, and the pain will be removed.
Listen to Vaidya Mishra's anecdote of a student who used fennel in this way in the audio lecture on fennel.
You may be wondering if applying a fennel cream to the skin would be effective at all. We tend to think that ingesting herbs is the only way to absorb them.
Ayurveda, and modern science, understand the powerful role that the skin plays in absorbing nutrients. The skin readily absorbs oils and other substances, including toxins, and passes them to the internal organs and tissues.
In fact, modern medicine uses transdermal applications of some drugs as the most effective means of delivery. This is especially true when a prolonged release is needed.
What makes Vaidya Mishra's transdermal creams effective is that they contain the vibrational essence of the herb. The subtlety of the cream, which does not contain any chemical preservatives or stabilizers, allows the vibration of fennel to pass through the loma randhra (vibrational filter of the skin) and be delivered to specific organs through the vibrational channels (nadis) in the body.
The physical components of the cream are also absorbed slowly over time and make their way into the blood stream. Because of the sustained delivery, transdermal creams are excellent to use before bed.
Fennel is described by Bhava Prakash as dipani (stimulating digestion). It is especially recommended for people with high pitta (too much heat in the body) because it is a gentle digestive stimulant, unlike pepper, ginger or ajwain.
When you need to be extra careful not to over-heat the body (in the case of high pitta), using Fennel Transdermal Cream is both effective and safe.

Take a small amount of the cream on the end of a small spoon (try to avoid putting your fingers in the container). With the ring finger, place the cream on the marma points indicated by your Shaka Vansya Ayurveda practitioner, or use your hand to apply to the abdomen.
Rub gently in clockwise circles over the marma points and then hold the ring finger gently on each marma point for up to a minute. Rub in large clockwise circles and hold the palm of your hand gently on the abdomen if applying the cream there.
Leave the cream on the skin for at least a half hour or for many hours of steady transdermal absorption, such as before sleep. Rub into the skin when done, or shower to remove.
Use under the guidance of a Shaka Vansya Ayurveda practitioner. As with all herbs, please consult your physician before using.
Cream may cause oil spots on clothing.
