Bal means "kid" in Sanskrit. Bal Saraswati Ghee is for kids five years or older. It gently nourishes the brain without giving too much of the main herb, jyotishmati. This product can only be purchased through a Shaka Vansya Ayurveda practitioner. It should only be used under his or her direct supervision.
Medhya formulations like Bal Saraswati Ghee are designed to support dhi, dhriti and smriti (the three components of mind in Ayurveda). Some medhya herbs, like brahmi, are more water soluble, while herbs like jyotishmati, are more lipid soluble. Since the brain is mainly made of lipid, according to Ayurveda, jyotishmati is ten times more powerful than brahmi for enhancing the coordination between dhi, dhriti and smriti.
Because jyotishmati is such a powerful herb, it must be used with careful supervision of a Shaka Vansya Ayurveda practitioner.
Jyotishmati, is able to deliver the subtle, lipid-soluble nutrients that the brain needs to maintain a high level of function. The name jyotishmati means “full of light,” because it provides a means to nourish and strengthen the physical brain so that it can make full use of its radiant, inner intelligence. This is a valuable formulation for childeren over 5 years old, when used properly.
