There are eight branches of Ayurveda mentioned in the oldest Ayurvedic text, Charak Samhita, written over 5000 years ago.  One of these eight main branches is called Vajikarana, and is devoted to improving the vibrational, emotional, and sensual potency in men and women so that intimate relationships remain optimal even as couples age.  

Vajikarana details how to support sensual strength by improving physical circulation, vibrational circulation, and by creating a strong foundation of mental, emotional and spiritual strength. 

Improving Sensual Strength in Women

Description of Kamini Product Ingredients

Shatavari - Shatavari is a very famous Ayurvedic herb for women.  The Sanskrit name has two parts:  "shat" + "avari."  "Shat" means "one hundred" and "avari" means "husbands."  This is not literal, but it is Sanskrit's way of giving you a clear picture of the power of this herb.  Shatavari helps a woman's mental, emotional and physical ability to maintain a satisfying intimate relationship.

Fennel - Fennel supports ojas, the body's subtle connecting factor, specifically in the genitourinary tract for women.  Ojas helps to enhance communication between the sense organs and the mind, which is essential for true intimacy. 

Ashoka - Ashoka gives emotional strength.  "A" means "no" and "shoka" means "grief" in Sanskrit.  Even old grief keeps the petals of the heart lotus closed, which prevents the light of the gem of the soul from reaching the mind.  When the mind is clouded, the sense organs do not act in an integrated way, which ultimately leads to pain and suffering with regards to intimacy.  Ashoka removed any traces of grief from the heart so that the pure light of the soul can shine forth through the senses.

Alodhra - Alodhra helps maintain the physical health of the genitourinary tract in women by supplying more ojas to the mucous membranes and giving an overall firming effect to the reproductive organs.

Marshmallow - Marshmallow root supports physical lubrication.

Slippery Elm - Slippery Elm provides deeper lubrication to the cellular system.

Turmeric - Turmeric has wonderful anti-inflammatory properties.  It helps the mucous membrane to fight against inflammation.

Sensitive Plant - Sensitive plant has a nourishing effect on the snayu (nerves and nerve endings) of the yoni (female reproductive organs), maintaining the sensitivity of the female gintal area.

Frankincense - Frankincense, sallaki in Sanskrit, is a powerful aroma with a divine energy to coordinate sensual and spiritual energy.  When spirituality and sensuality work in harmony, true intimacy can be attained. 

Sandalwood - Sandalwood maintains the divinity of intimacy.

Improving Sensual Strength for Men

Gokshura (Gokhru) - Gokshura enhances the coordination between the physical, sensual, mental, emotional and spiritual facets of a man.  It coordinates all of these energies to yield a deep capacity for true intimacy.  This results from gokru's ability to increase ojas, the connecting factor of the body, especially in the genitourinary system.

Greater Galangal - Galangal opens the physical channels of the genitourinary tract.

Poppy Seed - Poppy seed has the prabhava of mastika shamana (calming to the mind).  When the mind is worried or distracted, intimacy naturally suffers.

Nutmeg - Nutmeg calms the mind.  It also has a vajikarana effect to improve intimacy.  And as a yogavahi it helps to deliver the other herbs in the formula to their targeted destinations.

Mucuna - Mucuna is in the cream but not the nectar drops for men.  It is called Kapi Kachu in Sanskrit.  "Kapi" means "monkey" and "kachu" means "seeds."  The Ayurvedic shastras, or texts, describe a rishi, or enlightened seer, who observed monkeys eating these seeds and then performing very well sexually.  Since that time it has been considered an excellent vajikarana herb for men.

Calamus Root - Calamus root is also only in the cream, not the nectar drops.  Calamus root is an excellent herb for calming the mind.

Agni Shakti - (an ingredient of the cream only) - Agni Shakti is one of Vaidya Mishra's proprietary herbal blends, also sold separately.  It enhances agni, or metabolic fire, to transform soma, found in food, water, and the environment, to the specific ojas which supports sensual strength in men.
