Medhya formulations are designed to support dhi, dhriti and smriti (the three components of mind in Ayurveda). Some medhya herbs, like brahmi, are more water soluble, while herbs like jyotishmati, are more lipid soluble. Since the brain is mainly made of lipid, according to Ayurveda jyotishmati is estimated to be ten times more powerful than brahmi for enhancing the coordination between dhi, dhriti and smriti.
Jyotishmati, is able to deliver the subtle, lipid-soluble nutrients that the brain needs to maintain higher states of consciousness. The name jyotishmati means “full of light,” because it provides a means to nourish and strengthen the physical brain so that we can make full use of own radiant, inner intelligence.
