Definition of Poison

Visha, or poison, is defined in Ayurveda as any substance which is both vikasi and vyavai.  Vikasi means that the substance is very agneya, or hot.  Vikasi substances burn soma wherever they go in the body:  in the tissues, in the channels, in the joints.  Vyavai, which is the second character of visha (poison) means that the substance travels very quickly in the body.  It can pass the blood brain barrier.  It doesn't have to go through all the steps of transformation of one dhatu (tissue) into another to reach deep into the body.  Vyavai substances, can be absorbed topically and can reach the bone marrow or reproductive tissue in seconds.

When something is both vyavai and vikasi then it is called visha, or poison.  It travels immediately deep into the body and burns soma all along the way, continuing to burn soma wherever it ends up.

Pre-Shave Oil
