Brahmi is an ancient plant described by the Ayurvedic texts that is now extinct. For the past many centuries, Vaidya Mishra's family lineage of Ayurvedic practitioners has been using the combination of aindri (bacopa monnieri) and mandukaparni (gotu kola) to recreate almost the same properties as the original brahmi.
Both of these herbs sometimes go by the name, brahmi, and they both have the prabhava (special property) called medhya (good for the mind). Medhya herbs improve the three main components of mind: dhi (power of learning), dhriti (power of retention) and smriti (power of recall), and the coordination between these three components.
There have been many scientific studies on both aindri (bacopa) and mandukaparni (gotu kola) individually, confirming their ability to improve mental function and memory. When used together, these two plants compliment each other nicely. The saumya (cooling, nurturing) properties of aindri help balance the agneya (heating, detoxifying) properties of mandukaparni.
Together they nourish the physical and vibrational aspects of the brain so that it can connect more completely with the light of the soul. When the mind is connected to the light, it governs the senses, and the whole body, in a very balanced way. When the mind is connected to the light, it is also able to comprehend more wisdom in life.
Brahmi (the balanced combination of aindri and mandukaparni) is helpful for students, and people who use their minds a lot. There have even been studies that it improves senile dementia.
It is also very helpful for meditation because it helps the mind to connect with the light of the soul. For this reason, brahmi is one of the three transdermal creams used in Vaidya Mishra's Samadhi Set and Super Samadhi Set Gift Basket to be used before meditation or spiritual practice.
This Herbal Memory Nectar is one of the most effective ways to deliver brahmi to the system. In today's modern age, most of us have lots of toxins in our livers, and our digestive systems are not as strong as they could be. When this is the case, a divine herb like brahmi, if taken orally, can end up being made into ama (partially digested material) or have its subtle, divine properties destroyed when it passes through the liver filled with acidic toxins.
These nectar drops, when added to water and sipped throughout the day, are delivered transmucosally into the system without having to pass through the digestive system or the liver.
The physical material of the herbs have been removed from the Herbal Memory Nectar Drops so that only the essence of the herbs (the most powerful portion) is delivered with no need for digestion or metabolism. The sukshma bhag (subtle fraction) of the herbs and their vibrational intelligence go right to the brain, where they are needed to help connect the mind to the light of the soul.
Another advantage of using these nectar drops, without the physical properties of the herbs, is safety. It is the physical, bitter property of both aindri and mandukaparni that can stimulate the liver to release a lot of toxins if it is holding them. When most of us carry a load of toxins in our livers, we must be very careful not to offload them suddenly.
If this happens, we can easily get a detox reaction with diarrhea, irritable bowls, and worse yet reabsorption of the liver toxins into the bloodstream to travel to the brain, or skin, or other organs.
We may be taking brahmi to help the brain, but we can end up hurting the brain if we are not careful--by moving toxins from the liver to the brain when we use the crude herb. Herbal nectar drops avoid this problem because the bitterness of the physical herbs is not present in the drops. Only the prabhavas (subtle properties) of the herbs that nourish the brain are there.
Some people even get an allergic reaction to mandukaparni (gotu kola). This reaction has not been witnessed with the use of these Herbal Memory Nectar Drops. This is due to the same reason, that the drops do not contain the physical herb, which is what gives the reaction. They only contain the essence of the herb.
