While the original, ancient brahmi, has been extinct for centuries, the combination of aindri (bacopa monnieri) and mandukaparni (gotu kola) is able to recreate almost the same results as the original brahmi. These two plants are sometimes even individually called brahmi by the Sanskrit texts.
Both aindri and mandukaparni have the prabhava (special property) called medhya (being good for the mind). Medhya herbs improve the three main components of mind: dhi (power of learning), dhriti (power of retention) and smriti (power of recall), and the coordination between these three components. The result of using medhya herbs like brahmi is a stronger connection of the mind with the light of the soul.
There have been many scientific studies on both aindri (bacopa) and mandukaparni (gotu kola) individually, confirming their ability to improve mental function and memory. When used together, these two plants compliment each other nicely.
The saumya (cooling, nurturing) properties of aindri help balance the agneya (heating, detoxifying) properties of mandukaparni. Whenever you see the name, brahmi, on this website or in Vaidya Mishra's products, it refers to the balanced combination of the two plants, aindri and mandukaparni.
Brahmi Transdermal Cream is helpful for students, and for people who use their minds a lot. It nourishes the physical brain and helps the mind to function in a more balanced and powerful way.
It is also very helpful for meditation because it allows the mind to connect with the light of the soul more easily. For this reason, brahmi is one of the three transdermal creams used in Vaidya Mishra's Samadhi Set and Super Samadhi Set Gift Basket, to be used before meditation or spiritual practice.
Brahmi Transdermal Cream uses the skin as a means of delivering the essence of brahmi to the brain. The skin and the brain are related to one another, and when brahmi is applied to certain marma points, the vibration of the herbs travels through the nadis (vibrational channels) to the brain very quickly. In addition, the sukshma bhag (subtle essence) of brahmi in the cream is released slowly into the bloodstream over several hours, so that the physical brain gets nourishment too.
In today's modern age, most of us have lots of toxins in our livers, and our digestive systems are not as strong as they could be. When this is the case, a divine herb like brahmi, if taken orally, can end up being made into ama (partially digested material) or have its subtle, divine properties destroyed when it passes through the liver filled with acidic toxins.
This transdermal cream delivers brahmi into the system without having to pass through the digestive system or the liver. The physical material of the herbs have been removed from the cream so that only the essence of the herbs (the most powerful portion) is delivered with no need for digestion or metabolism.
Another advantage of using the transdermal cream instead of the crude herb taken orally, is safety. The physical, bitter property of both aindri and mandukaparni can stimulate the liver to release a lot of toxins if it is holding them. When most of us carry a load of toxins in our livers, we must be very careful not to squeeze the liver suddenly and release them all at once.
If this happens, we can easily get a detox reaction with diarrhea, irritable bowls, and worse yet reabsorption of the liver-toxins into the bloodstream to travel to the brain, or skin, or other organs.
We may be taking brahmi to help the brain, but we can end up hurting the brain, if we are not careful, by transferring toxins from the liver to the brain when we use the crude herb. Brahmi Transdermal Cream avoids this problem because the bitterness of the physical herb is not present in the cream. Only the prabhavas (subtle properties) of the herbs that nourish the brain are there.
Some people even get an allergic reaction to mandukaparni (gotu kola). This reaction has not been witnessed with the use of this transdermal cream. The combination of gotu kola (mandukaparni) with aindri (bacopa) helps balance the strong effects of gotu kola alone. Also, in transdermal cream form, the physical properties of the herbs are not present. It is the physical herb gotu kola that can give allergic reactions, not the subtle essence of gotu kola that is found in this cream.

for Christmas I sent my partner the Samadhi travel set, he loves the Brahmi so much we just ordered the larger size.
He is Vata dosa and an acupuncturist so he has to be in a clear, calm, energetic state for his work. This Brahmi roll on has made his day more even, he is more aware, clear and strong in mind for his clients.
He notices his Prana flowing more freely, and loves the smell too!
Thank you! Lifetime users for sure!
